Praise the Lord, Natalie Andrews is Writing a Companion Book to As Alike As Two Suns
We know you've been waiting for it...
The day we've all been waiting for has arrived! Natalie Andrews, author of As Alike As Two Suns (you know - that novel that held you over between seasons of The Cursed Queen) is writing a "companion novel" to the book. It's called The Winter Rose and it's due for publication this year!
The Winter Rose is going to focus on one of our favorite and most ignored characters of the show - Elka, Wilhelm Brandt's wife and William's mother. Most of what we know about her is lumped in with what we know about Wilhelm (and you can find that stuff here), so Andrews says that she has taken some liberties and used historical information about the time as inspiration for events to fill in what we don't know of Elka's life.
We did an interview with Andrews over email. She said that the book is going to start in 1508, two years before Elka and Wilhelm get married, with their first meeting, and cover the years to 1551, the year Wilhelm dies. She says she wants to talk more about what Elka's role might have been in Wilhelm's lifetime job of spying/conveniently hearing things.
AND! AND! She wants to write more books about this time period! She says that she loves Philippa Gregory's huge series about the Tudors, and wants to write as many books about people in Maleen of Adlkofen's life. Her future focuses might include Ursula, Margareta, Ramona, Maleen's mother, and Federica's nurse and lifelong companion. She didn't give a possible order, but said that she has "a lot" of ideas about the book about Maleen's mother, Amalia.
You can pre-order the book here!
